KASHMIRI VERSUS KASHMIRIYAT

Kashmir rejects jihad

Murder of Humanity and Kashmiriyat

Targeted killings have drawn flak from the local populace. The militants appear to be frustrated due to the heavy military crackdown for the past few months. They have been targeting JKP personnel’s, local army officers and soldiers and political workers with the primary aim of creating fear in the mind of people. High pressure from Pakistan Army/ISI to create disturbances in Kashmir is forcing foreign terrorists to adopt this methodology since the heavy crackdown of SF in the last few months have left the terrorist cadre disarrayed.

These militants are losing ground, are headless without leaders (since most of them are killed recently), and most importantly OGWs/locals are trying to distance themselves from them as they have started to trust the security forces who are aligned to work constructively for the state and not destructively like the militants. Such an act of cowardice has drawn flak from the entire state. It appears that the rattled terrorist cadre who have been pinned down heavily by the SF in the valley are now desperate to stay in news and are therefore killing civilians and now incidents of infighting between cadres have started surfacing again.

On Wednesday, a militant by the name Adil Ahmad Dass was killed. Interestingly he was killed by militants of the Lashkar-e-Toiba at Wagahama, Bijbehara. The killing was to avenge Dass wanting to join a rival militant group, the Ansar Ghazwatul Hind, which was found by Zakir Musa, who was killed in an encounter on May 23, 2019. This incident is reminiscent of the 1990s when incidents of militancy in the Valley had started to come down drastically. A similar pattern was witnessed in those years when militants fought against militants.

At that time, the big fight was between the Hizbul Mujahideen and the Al-Jihad. The Al-Jihad was the third largest group in Kashmir at that time after the Hizbul Mujahideen and JKLF.

Recently, an updated conversation between two Zakir Musa and Abu Dujana was also released in which they are heard speaking about the role of the Pakistan Army and militancy in Jammu and Kashmir.

Both Dujana and Musa who were part of the Al-Qaeda inspired, Ansar Ghazwatul Hind were killed in separate encounters in the Valley. Dujana who was initially part of the Lashkar-e-Tayiba quit the outfit and joined the Musa led AGH. Musa had formed the AGH after a fall out with the leadership of the Hizbul Mujahideen.

In the conversation released by Al-Sindh/ Hurr media, the two are heard discussing the vested interest of the ISI in Kashmir. They say that the ISI wants to run shop in Kashmir and is only interested in the land. Further, Dujana is heard saying that the militants who come to Kashmir from Pakistan are in reality Pakistani soldiers without uniform. They are not here to fight for the cause of Kashmir but are only interested in grabbing land. The ISI and Hurriyat both cannot be trusted in this fight, they say while citing the example of Ilyas Kashmiri, who fought against the ISI after realizing what their real designs were.

Viewpoint

Kashmir was a place where peace and religious tolerance was the way of life. Today intolerance is being taught to the youths, instead of Kashmiri way of life with Sufism, Wahhabism is being taught with no tolerance for others. As a result, Kashmir has now become synonymous with turbulence. What India is facing in J&K is not just terrorism but a proxy war being waged by the deep state through the jihadi surrogates. The battlefield is now two dimensional with ISI handles flooding internet with doctored videos, fake news, and stories eulogizing militants, making them appear like heroes, crying foul trying hard to emotionally blackmail the affected community thereby disrupting effective counterterrorism operations.

Whether a militant is killed or a civilian or a cop, it is the Kashmiri who dies. These incidents are proof that militancy so-called “jihad” is not for the Kashmiri’s, because radicalized (foreign/local) militants are now targeting Kashmiri’s, since they are under tremendous pressure from across the border (threatened by ISI, Pak Army) who want to engulf Kashmir in the same holocaust that engulfs Pakistan.

Kashmiriyat demands religious, social harmony and brotherhood. It is important that Kashmiris understand the nefarious designs of Pakistan and help themselves to bring back peace and prosperity. It may be noted that separatist forces including media are cashing on the Kashmiri blood being spilled.

A united & peaceful Kashmir is an eyesore for Pakistan, a fact which needs no further discussions. A country which has failed its own people repeatedly is on one foot to resolve Kashmir issue is laughable, to say the least.  Until they are on the same page of peace as desired by the majority of the Pakistanis, there is very little that can be done to save this ticking time bomb. All we Kashmiris can do is save ourselves from their malicious propaganda and reject jihad vehemently.

It is for the Kashmiri youth to understand that “this is the murder of humanity and Kashmiriyat”, for which Pakistan is using Kashmiri people against each other, for its own vested interests.
