Hizbul Mujahideen spokesman Burhan-u-Din in a tele-statement to KNS, claimed responsibility of the attack.

 “Hizb appreciates the Mujahideen who carried out the attack on CRPF,” the spokesman said. (KNS). Cash awards have also been declared to the Mujahideens who carried out the attacks.

Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) Wednesday said that it “appreciates” the militants for carrying out the attacks on the forces in a single day, “as revenge” for breaking into the houses of martyred and abusing their family members. 

 The LeT Chief announced a prize for these attacks and reiterated attacks shall continue until the goal is achieved.

Jammu and Kashmir’s top cop on Wednesday claimed that the multiple grenade attacks taking place in Pulwama district were the handiwork of the Jaish-e-Mohammad and not Hizb-ul-Mujahideen as per intelligence reports gathered so far.
 “Hizb-ul-Mujahideen has a larger presence, but the Jaish-e-Mohammad was behind Tuesday’s incidents as per our intelligence report, though the HM has claimed it, it’s not true,” Director General of Police, J&K SP Vaid said.

Analysis

The declaration of Cash Awards for the successful attacks on SF is not a new phenomenon and has been used as a key instrument by the ISI to keep the pot boiling in Kashmir. What is new about it is the open declaration of the fact by various militant organisation active in the valley. This may be their ploy to extract the maximum from the paymasters across.

 The success of the Tuesday’s Grenade attack has found many fathers and there is a race to claim the glory. However, no statement or action from Zakir Musa’s outfit Taliban-e-Kashmir has rendered him irrelevant in the canvas of Kasmir’s militancy.

 It also proves that only Zakir Mussa's organisation is fighting for its declared cause, whereas, rest are fighting for money and glamour.
