Ek Umid : School Reopens in Kashmir
The reports of opening of schools in Kashmir is a good omen. The cheer visible on faces of students proves that they were happy to reunite with their friends after long break, caused by the unrest, after Burhan Wani’s death.
Merely giving the students mass promotion will give them the qualification to appear for jobs but what about the knowledge which will make them get the job. Where do the students of Kashmir stand in comparison to students of other parts of the J & K. Kashmiris qualifying in competitive exams are very few and far between. The number needs to be increased by high quality of education.
This is a serious problem and needs to be addressed by students their parents and the educationists. It should be ensured that there are no further disruptions to their studies. It is the education which will make Kashmiris get their rightful place in the modern world
FOR NATION'S SAKE
Lt Umer Fayyaz, a young Army Officer was shot dead by terrorists in a most cowardly act yesterday at Shopian. Officer belonged to Kulgam and was on leave. He was commissioned in to a front line Infantry Unit on 10 Dec. Incidentally this Unit is a Kargil Fame Unit acknowledgd for defeating Pakistan in Tololing.
Killing a defenceless Army Officer on leave, proves that the terrorist and their masters have become absolutely desperate that even after their warnings people are not bothered with their Azadi agenda. Having been nurtured by pseudo secularist liberals, these elements are sure that certain voices in Democratic India will provide them tacit approval.
The family will suffer silently and bear the cost of terror perpetrated by Pakistan. Hurriyat leaders will never condemn it. PAK DGMO will shamelessly deny their role while other Paki Generals will celebrate it as their retaliation against Indian surgical strikes. Not only this incident of killing a defenceless person attending family marriage ceremony is against the Holy Koran but signifies a marked shift in the terror tactics followed by Kashmiri terrorists and their Masters. This seems to be the handiwork of foreign Lasker e Taiba operators as Hizbul Mujahideen would have never carried out this cowardly act, whatever be the desperation.
Change of Heart
Amir Hussain, the main accused of gun-snatching incident in Jammu last week surrendered in south Kashmir’s Shopian district and the weapon was recovered from him.
According to police, Amir had run away with the weapon.
Amir Hussain belongs to a very well-off familyof Shopian. His father is an influential businessman and has fleet of 10 to 12 vehicles and also owns apple orchards. He said Amir surrendered before police at Shopian and was brought to Jammu. “Police identified the main accused after questioning other two accused who were arrested earlier.” “The details of accused were shared with all police stations and Shopian police immediately contacted the family of Amir Hussain to counsel him to surrender if he came in contact with them”.Moment Amir reached his home in Shopian district, his family persuaded him to surrender. “He (Amir) was personally taken by his father to SSP Shopian on Tuesday evening. The weapon was recovered on the information given by Amir”.
“It’s an example to follow how a family persuaded their son to surrender before law. The State Govt welcomes misguided youth who admit their guilt and want to return to mainstream after shunning violence”.
